Keep Me From Deception

By Yolanda K. Edwards

Matthew 24: 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

We see many turning away from the church.  People leaving because they’ve been caught up in their emotions and not focusing on the work and the will of God.  Whenever you join a church, it should be because God has led you there and has work for you to do there. Likewise, whenever you leave a church, first and foremost, it should be because your work in that particular branch of Zion is done and God is calling you to work and fulfill His will for you at another branch of Zion. Second, you should always have a church where you will continue to grow in the faith when you leave.

Something to think about: It’s time to do a heart check! Will you be one of the many that are deceived and that will turn away from the faith?

Prayer Starter: Lord, it’s in the name of Jesus that I come, first asking for forgiveness of anything that I’ve done against you and others.  Lord in your word, you said that when I am weak, you are strong.  I need you to help me be strong in you in the midst of all the turmoil going on all around me. Give me the strength to remain in your word and to continue to walk out my faith. I ask for a spirit of discernment to distinguish the false prophets from the genuine ones…

Accept What God Allows

By Yolanda K. Edwards

1 Thessalonians 5:18 – Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

On Wednesday, November 9th, the day after the election, a lot of people woke up to the shock of their lives. Yes, President elect Donald J. Trump had won the election. For many, this caused confusion, frustration, anger, fear, and a whole host of other feelings.

Something to think about: Now I’m not saying that people aren’t entitled to feel the way they feel, but as we navigate through our feelings and come to grips with reality, we must remember that God still sits on the throne and He is still in full control.

So though the election may not have turned out the way we would have liked it to, it did turn out the way that God designed it to. With that in mind, we need to come together and pray for the leaders of this great country that they will be the leaders for ALL Americans, but most importantly, that they will consult and be led by God.

Prayer starter: Lord, it’s in the name of Jesus that I come, asking you to help me get to a place where I am able to accept your will for this country. The election did not yield the results that I wanted it to, but I understand that this is not about me, it is bigger than me. I pray for the leaders of this country Lord, that you would place your hedge of protection around them and their families. Use them to lead this country in the direction that you would have it to go…

Pray and Give Thanks

By Yolanda K. Edwards

Phillipians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (NIV)

The New Living Translation reads “Don’t worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done.”

Something to think about: Did you know that anxiety and worry can make you physically ill and cause you to be fatigued?

Why waste your time worrying when God has already provided your need and answered your prayers. All we have to do is pray.  God said that we can have whatever we ask in His name as long as it’s in His will for us.  Though you may have already prayed, maybe you don’t see the response yet.  First, remember that all things happen in God’s time, not ours, so if you don’t see the response yet, be patient and confident that the answer is on the way and it will arrive at the perfect time. Second, stop and see if He has already answered your prayer, just not in the manner in which you were expecting.

In any case, remember to pray about everything, cast your cares upon God, and let him work it out.  You’ll find that you will live a much healthier, stress free life.
