Hearing God’s Voice

Matthew 6:6 – “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

Psalm 46:10a – Be still, and know that I am God;
Do you desire to hear God’s voice? Are you wondering why He’s not speaking to you? Have you made Him a priority?

Some of us want so desperately to hear from God, but we don’t do what has to be done in order to hear Him speak to us.

The first thing we have to do is make Him a priority. We have to make a conscious decision to spend quiet time alone with Him. This means that you might have to give up your favorite TV show(s), you might have to go to bed earlier so you can get up a bit earlier, you might have to miss that meeting you thought wouldn’t go on without you. My point is, we get so busy and consumed with everyday life, that everything becomes a priority over God, whether it be consciously or subconsciously.

I challenge you to go to bed 30 minutes earlier at night and to get up 30 minutes earlier to spend time in His presence, praying and waiting for Him to speak to and in some cases, with you. Yes, God will have a conversation with you.

Prayer starter: Lord, thank you for giving me multiple opportunists to commune with you. Please show me how to carve time out of my individual schedule to spend some quiet time with you so that you may direct my path. From this day forward, I will make a conscious effort to make you a priority over everyone and everything in my life…
