Revelation 2:19-29 – 19 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. 20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. 22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. 23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. 24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you, 25 except to hold on to what you have until I come. 26 To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations 27 that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery just as I have received authority from my Father. 28 I will also give that one the morning star. 29 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
United States Code, U.S. Code, or U.S.C.) is the official compilation and codification of the general and permanent federal statutes of the United States. It contains 52 titles, one of which is Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 4: The Pledge of Allegiance, officially adopted by Congress in 1945. However, there were 2 changes made in 1954, one of which was of utmost importance and that was to include the prepositional phrase “under God”.
In the Pledge of Allegiance, we pledge our allegiance as “one Nation under God, indivisible”.
It seems as though we have turned from “one nation under God” to “one nation in defiance of God” and as divided about many issues that face us today as we’ve ever been. Then we wonder why all of this turmoil is going on in the world today.
All of the destruction, devastation and turmoil that’s happening in the world today is not all the work of the enemy. Reading this passage in revelation reveals to us that God will bring His wrath to those who constantly sin against and defy him without repentance. As a nation we’ve given ourselves over to sexual immorality or we have accepted it as the norm, we have become a nation that murders one another without any remorse, we worship any and everything but God, we lie when the truth will do, we defame other people’s character and the list goes on and on.
But there is good news, this passage also reveals that God has compassion for those that walk up right before Him, meaning those that are saved and strive to die to sin every day and those who don’t fall into or accept patterns of sin as the norm. He will search our hearts to determine which side we fall on, His or the worlds. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. My prayer for you is that God will search your heart and see that you are on His side.
Prayer starter: Lord, please forgive me for the sins that I’ve committed against you through omission and commission. I want to strive to seek You first and to die to sin daily. At the end of the day, I want to hear you say: “well done my good and faithful servant, in you I am well pleased”. I know that you are still working on me…
