Resisting Temptation

by Yolanda K. Edwards

Mark 14:38 (NIV) – “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.””

We must be in constant communication with God through prayer and conversation. Yes, God does have conversations with His people. This is what will keep us from falling into temptation.  The flesh can’t fight against temptation on its own, the spirit helps the flesh fight the temptation, but only if the spirit is being consistently fed and built up through reading and studying God’s word, prayer, and spending quiet time in His presence.

Prayer starter…Lord, your word tells us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but with spiritual wickedness.  I realize that in order for me to fight against the enemy and to keep me from falling into any kind of temptation, I need to speak to you daily.  Allow your holy spirit to remind me that when I’m facing tough situations, to consult with you and when it’s a normal day, still to have a conversation with you.  Give me a desire to learn more about you…

Eternal Life

by Pastor Brenda Gray

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Court Order…You have been accused of accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Bombarding God with prayers, saving souls, feeding the hungry, healing the sick and preaching deliverance to the captives. You are hereby sentenced to Everlasting Life. No bail, No Appeal. You have been labeled, blessed and hereby detained in God’s custody forever. Something to think about! If you had a court order like this one against you, would your court order read the same as this one?

Whatever You Ask!

by Yolanda K. Edwards

John 14:13 – God said that whatever you ask in His name, that will he do, so that He may be glorified through His Son, Jesus Christ.

The key to prayer is to ask for whatever you are seeking in His name. Often times, we go to God and expect Him to do for us and then are disappointed when it seems as if our prayer is not being answered. If that happens, several things could be at play:

1) Try to recall if you asked in His name.

2) Look for signs that He did in fact answer your prayer, just maybe not the way you expected Him to answer.

3) Does the answer to your prayer glorify God and most importantly, are you giving Him the Glory and not stealing the glory for yourself.

Remember, nothing in this life matters without God, so if you are reading this and happen not to be saved, pray this simple prayer with me (Romans 10:9-10):

Prayer: I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I accept you as Lord and savior over my life. Continue to work in me, so that I may strive to live a life pleasing to you, in Jesus name, Amen!

If you prayed this prayer, you are now saved. Find a church home where you can grow in His word.
